Calgary Temple

Daddy!! HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY/BIRTHDAY/LATE BIRTHDAY DEPENDING ON WHEN YOU READ THIS!!!!
You are soo lucky that you are getting to go to Disneyland. I sent a list of things to Mom that I would like you to do for me while you are there. That list for you includes getting a Silhouette of you and Mom done, kicking moms butt on the shooting range, and going on Indiana Jones for me. I am not going to lie, going to Disneyland might have to be one of the first things we do when I get back. I really wish I had the time to read the Work and the Glory series, and I am kind of wishing I had started to listen to it before I left. It is on my list that will continually get longer of things to do when I get back...

Conference was AMAZING!!! I have never gotten so much out of it, and I am glad to know that you got so much from the talks!! Which one was your favorite?? I would answer that question but I honestly don't know, give me a couple of months with the Ensign and I will get back to you on that question. I really wish I could have seen Priesthood session... as weird as that sounds. It is funny that those are the two pictures that you sent me. The top one I actually have taped to my wall. The second I have heard before but I really needed to hear it!! I am doing so much better now than I was a couple of weeks ago. I can't believe how fast this week has gone, and I also can't believe that it is already October!! This week is Canadian Thanksgiving so I will have to give a full report on how that goes :). It is funny because just like back at home, the people here have already skipped over Thanksgiving right to the next Holiday. Halloween. I can't tell you how much being on a mission has meant to me already, and I grow more and more appreciative for you and Mom and the family every day. I know that we have been placed together to one another to grow and learn. I know that this Gospel is true and that Christ our Lord has made is possible for us to be sealed to our families and to Him so that one day we can live with Him and Heavenly Father again as an Eternal family, enjoying all of the blessings that Heavenly Father and Christ enjoy every day. I know that Heavenly Father is so aware of each of His Children and that we each have a crucial role in helping one another out in this life. I encouraged mom to read a few of the conference talks that she might have missed. I encourage you to go and listen to them again as well!!! (I wish I could). Also listen to any and all Bednar talks you can. He is my favorite!! I love you soo much. Happy Birthday again and have a safe trip to Cali!! Enjoy the sunshine!!

OH AND I GOT TO GO TO THE CALGARY TEMPLE ON WEDNESDAY. PICTURES TO COME TO A MAIL BOX NEAR YOU!!

Love you Forever!

Hello Mamma!!
I got your letter this week!! Your little spelling mistakes and misuses of words really made me cherish the letter even if it didn't say much. Although I am sure you didn't do it on "porpous"... you spell purpose like the whale... although I haven't seen and whales of late, I did see a picture of a Narwhal (a whale with a horn) the other day spray painted on a post. I took a picture and will have to send it with my next batch. Oh my goodness conference was amazing!!! I have never ever enjoyed watching conference, but now that I understand this gospel so much better than I did, I have learned to love it and really pay attention to what I am getting out of it. I am not sure which ones you saw, but I really would like for you to go back and listen/reread a few of them that really spoke to me and I think would really help you. You should listen to Lynn G. Robbins from the Frist session, Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk from the 2nd session (this might really help with your desire to read the scriptures), Jeffery R. Holland's talk from the 2nd session, Thomas S. Monson's, and especially David A. Bednar... and then if you have time go back and watch all of the ones you missed and plus all other Bednar talks you can get your hands on. This week has actually been super good. I am starting to notice the Lords hand in my life every day. I am realizing the potential we all have through Christ, and the people we can become if we do all we can and then let Christ make up the rest. He truly is our Lord, Savior, Redeemer, Brother. I found that a lot of the talks in conference where about building are foundation upon Christ. Making sure that we know Him, understand his counsel, and follow the commandments that he gives us so that we can be free. And that is really all it is. Act or be acted upon. Satan does all he can to Act upon us. Christ invites us to act, and allows us to work and become like Him if is our choice. However, the only way we can truly come to know our Lord is through fervent prayer, scripture study, and Church/Temple Attendance. (All of the simple primary answers). I guess this might not be new for everyone back at home, but it is something that I have learned out here and continue to learn every day!!
Okay away from the gospely stuff. I had the opportunity to go to the Calgary Temple on Wednesday!! It is so pretty and North Calgary (I am in the Southern part of the City) is so pretty and windy. The temple is probably about as big as the Brigham City Temple but is a bit more grand. It really doesn't feel as small as the Brigham City one did, and I will send you a picture as soon as I can :). Also, Jannae, the daughter of the Family we live with got sealed in the temple on Thursday and we got to help set up for the reception on Thursday and help scoop ice cream at the reception on Friday!! I couldn't believe how pretty the Peter's got a stake center to look... and it honestly makes me rethink having my reception at a Stake Center... (we will see I am still not sure).
It is kind of funny every time I think about the Second Coming I think of you because I know how much you like that sort of stuff... Oh and this morning we went to a second hand store to look for clothing.... and even though I was super excited I still did not buy a single thing. It seems that even though I have been out for a little while now, I still cannot bring myself to change my thoughts on peoples used clothing.
I love you soo much and will be thinking about you lots this week as you head out to Disneyland!!!! Go on the Cars ride and Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain Railroad for me. Kick dads butt in Toy Story Mania and Buzz Lightyear. Eat a corn dog on my behalf, go to the animation studio, and watch World of Color!! OH AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO ON TOWER OF TERROR!!!!!!! Have a wonderful week I can't wait to hear from you again soon! I am doing well here and have grown to really love missionary work, not matter how frustrating people can be sometimes!!

Love
